Make Ahead Ground Beef

If I buy a big bulk of meat (which I do on a fairly regular basis), I cook it and seasoning it up, sort it into approximately 1 pound bags and freeze it.  Then, when I make Tacos, Spaghetti, Chili, Sloppy Joes, or other things that call for ground hamburger meat, I have some ready to use without having to go through the cooking process!

Here’s what I do, it is actually very simple. I am writing this recipe with the assumption that you are buying a 3 lb package, but you can add or subtract as needed:

I make this ground beef ahead of time and free it in individual bags to use in future meals.
Ingredients
  • 3 medium onions
  • 3 lb 90% lean ground beef or 93% lean ground turkey
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed
Instructions
  1. Chop onions.
  2. Place onions, beef and minced garlic into (12-in.) Skillet. Cook over medium-high heat 15-18
  3. minutes or until beef is no longer pink.
  4. Divide beef mixture into three portions.
